University of Surrey Sets Up India's Premier International Branch Campus at GIFT City

The University of Surrey GIFT City campus is Surrey's first international branch campus in India. Announced at the QS India Summit 2025 in Goa on January 28, this landmark initiative brings world-class British education to one of India's most dynamic innovation hubs. Degrees awarded at the India campus will be the same as those awarded at University of Surrey in the UK, with the first intake planned for Summer 2026.

The campus will be delivered in collaboration with GUS Global Services in Gujarat's GIFT City, India's special economic zone, where institutions are free from the regulations that govern the rest of the country. The two entities will combine the university's teaching and research provision in business, international finance, computer science, cyber-security – all areas aligned with the strategic vision of GIFT City. The University of Surrey is set to open its India campus by 2026-27, offering initial programs in artificial intelligence, finance, and cybersecurity.

For homebuyers and investors in GIFT City, this development signals accelerating ecosystem maturity. Global universities such as Deakin University and the University of Wollongong have already established campuses in GIFT City's education ecosystem, contributing to its long-term residential appeal. Since GIFT City includes homes, education, and hospitals, it makes hiring easier and adds to the appeal of investing in commercial spaces.

Located in India's first international financial hub, this campus is designed to connect academic excellence with industry innovation - creating a launchpad for the next generation of leaders in technology, finance, and sustainable enterprise. The project is contingent on regulatory approval from Gujarat's International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) under the International Branch Campus Regulations. With 200+ companies already established in GIFT City, students will have unparalleled access to internships, mentorship, and career pathways in global finance and technology.

For property investors, the convergence of world-class education, financial services, and smart-city infrastructure makes GIFT City increasingly attractive. Established to support businesses with progressive policies, tax incentives, and cutting-edge infrastructure, GIFT City is the ideal destination for those looking to diversify their portfolios, with strategic location, advanced facilities, and regulatory advantages making it a compelling choice.
